The extent to which sun protection offers protection against UV radiation is expressed in UPF: Ultraviolet Protection Factor. A UV spectrometer measures how much UVB and UVA radiation penetrates the fabric.
UPF 50+ means that a maximum of 2% of harmful UV radiation penetrates the material. In other words; the miniMAX® parasol blocks at least 98% of this radiation!
Keep in mind that no parasol can fully protect you from UV radiation. Air particles reflect sunlight, so UV radiation can always reach your skin to a limited extent.
